Chris' update!

This is probably the easiest way to update family and friends about Chris.
Right now we know he is at a min. of stage 2 cancer. We went in this morning for a PET scan to find out if its gone into his body. We will know the answer to this hopefully tomorrow. If its gone into his body he is at stage 4 which is the worst stage of cancer you can have. If it hasn't gone into his body he is scheduled for surgery next Thurs. to have a big chunk of his leg taken out where the cancer was and they will also be removing lymph nodes in his groin area. They will test the lymph nodes to find out if the cancer has spread to those which we are figuring it has because both doctors said they were swelled up. This would put him in stage 3 cancer. IF he is moved to stage 3 or 4 cancer he will have to undergo interferon treatment. This is a treatment he will have to take M-F all day for 4 weeks and will make him incredibly sick. So this is where we stand right now. We won't know more until tomorrow or possibly next Thurs.

Andrew's 5 year old checkup!

Today we went in for Andrew's 5 year old checkup. Andrew was very nervous but did great. He did great on his hearing checkup, although he flunked it the first two times then finally passed it when the doctor checked him. She said he was fine. He passed his vision with flying colors and has 20/20 vision. Everything else looks great on him as well. He is measuring 47" tall which is off the charts (surprise!) and is weighing in at 44 lbs which is 75%. She said he is perfect for height and weight and to keep up with vitamins because of his height. She did recommend possibly sending him to an ENT because of his enlarged tonsils and how he talks like he has a mouth full of something, but with everything else going on with us right now we decided to put it on hold since he doesn't really have any other problems. He is currently getting his 6 year old molars in, which I actually didn't realize. So overall he is a very tall healthy 5 year old boy! Way to go Andrew!

Is 2011 over yet?

I just don't have anything fun to post today. I'm just hoping 2011 doesn't continue to go like it is. So far this year we have found out that Chris has melenoma skin cancer, I have a lump on my thyroid that I have to get biopsied, and Joey goes in later this month to spend the night in the sleep clinic to find out if he has sleep apnea. Seriously this is only January!!!!!

Snow day!!!!

On Tuesday the kids got a snow day along with somewhere between 3 and 4 inches of snow. So far it seems like we have received a lot of snow this year compared to the years past.....maybe the persimmon myth has something to it since it said we would get a lot of snow this year.
Anyway here is a few pictures of the kiddos outside playing in the snow. I never seem to get very many pictures of the kids playing in the snow because I'm too afraid of my camera getting ruined plus I want to be playing with them......so this is the few that I got.

Sledding down the hill...

And crashing!

Snow dog Sunny!

Drinking some yummy hot chocolate!!!

And letting the clothes dry so they can head back out again!

It was a great day had by all.....boy, we sure do LOVE snow days around here!!!!

Andrew playing hockey!!!!

This past weekend Andrew began playing hockey for the St. Peters Spirit. Since everyone knows about his current hockey obsession, I thought we would give it a try. Luckily for us, my nephew Jacob plays for them as well so my generouse sister has been gracious enough to give us some hand me downs! The only thing we had to supply was a hockey stick since my nephew uses a left handed stick, and Santa brought that for Andrew.
So here he is at his first practice.....
Chris helping Andrew get his gear on.

He did really well and was able to keep up with most of the things he was told to do. Now Andrew has informed me that he knows everything about hockey and is ready to start playing games.......I hate to be the one to break this to him but he has a few more learn to play sessions before he actually makes a team! We'll see if he keeps an interest or not!

Another incredibly good time!

Wow, I have been slacking on my blog the last few weeks...guess I better play some catch up!
Over Christmas break, MawMaw and I took the kids back to Incredible Pizza thanks to a gift card Aunt Kimmie gave the kiddos. This time we had more time to play the games and do more of the activities, also thanks to the gift cards we still had left over from the birthday party.
We started off eating the buffet that was yummy!!!!

Then we headed out to play some games......the kids all had a blast!!!!
No worries here, I don't think the kids could hit anything :)

Next we headed out to race some cars....

And last was some games of bowling.....I really, really loved this bowling alley as it was perfect for my kids ages!!!! It was just hard to get three lanes in a row (heaven forbid if the kids had to figure out how to share a lane),

It was a great time and we owe a huge thank you to MawMaw for helping me out. Oh and I forgot to mention that this was on New Year's Eve and after we left we heard that tornado sirens had been going off and apparently there were some really bad tornadoes that had hit close by.......glad they were worried enough to tell anyone :)

New Year's!!!!

Once again I spend another year working on New Year's Eve. Not that I mind that much because the kids are still too young to do much with yet. But this year I did get to bring Adriana with me to the Rec Plex lock in and she amazingly made it past midnight. Now as she sleeps in my office, it makes me realize what a blessing the past years have been. I've been so lucky with having three healthy children, an amazing husband who I love so much, a wonderful family who has helped us in so many ways, and great friends who I know I can depend on through everything. I really can't say anything bad about 2010, which is more blessings than I could ever have hoped for.
So here I am looking into 2011 and wondering what resolutions I could think of for this year. So once again I decided to make a list. I know last year I made a list of 25 things and most of them I lacked to accomplish and I look back wondering "what was I thinking?" So this year I decided to list them down to some things I really would like to work on. I didn't put a number on it, as they are things I want to continue working on so I can't just scratch them off like a to do list. So here is my list of things to keep working on.....
-listening more and talking less
-being a better wife and mother and taking my time to just live in the present with my wonderful family
-organize better and work on time management
-be a better friend and spend more time with my good friends
-live a healthier life....stop worrying about what the scales says and listen to my body
So I know it is a short list but it includes everything I would really like to work on. So here is to a wonderful 2011 and hopefully it brings me as many great days as 2010 did! Happy New Years everyone!

Joey's checkup!

Today we went in for Joey's 3 year old checkup. He did much better than I thought he would since he HATES going into the doctors office and usually cries the whole time. He did great getting on the scale and getting his height measured and actually let the nurse take his blood pressure. Then into the office we went and when the doctor came in I thought we might actually have an appointment without a fight! He let her look in his eyes, ears, and nose without any problems but then came the mouth. I think he was remembering last time we were in the doctors and had a strep test done and he threw up because his mouth was glued shut. But we managed without too many kicks at the doctor.
He looked like a very healthy 3 year old with only one minor problem. He snores really, really bad at night and still does not sleep through the night very well. So after seeing his ginormous tonsils, the doctor decided it was time to be referred to the sleep clinic. So we will be having a new adventure which with this child I'm not too excited about! He only got to have one shot this time and only one nurse came in to give it to her. I warned her about his hitting and kicking and she said she was used to it. So I held his hands and kissed on his poor face while the nurse got the worse end of the deal. All I heard was her repeatedly saying "wow, you are strong for such a little guy!" She was finally able to give him his shot but without him screaming "I don't like you" at her and telling me that shots aren't his favorite along with how he didn't like that bed! Wow, does he give me a workout!
So as far as stats going......he is 41" tall which is of course off the charts and weighs in at 34 lbs which is in the 75%. I asked her if he was overweight because all he does is eat all day and he is heavy to carry, but she said no he was perfect. I guess he is still 25% taller than what he weighs, but man is he heavy to carry! So I guess we are good for another year and will update later with how the sleep clinic goes!

The boys!

I'm so glad my boys get along so well together! They really do love each other, and love playing together! Yes, of course they have their moments......ok a LOT of moments but they are usually quick to make up and are back to best buds quickly! These two will grow up being best friends and I'm sure they will quickly turn their parent's hair gray because of that!
