Dentist appointments
Today was the kids 6 month dentist checkup. Last time Adriana did great, but Andrew and Joey didn't do so well. So I've been working the kids up for their big appointments all week. I asked Adriana and Andrew who was going to be braver and of course they each said they were. I told them we were going to have a contest and whoever would be bravest would win. So Andrew and Joey went this morning. Andrew wanted me to come back with him so I thought this might be bad. The hygentist was working on getting Andrew to lay back on his chair when they called Joey over to the seat next to Andrew. So I was working with Joey and peeked over at Andrew who was now laying back and doing great with getting his teeth cleaned. Joey didn't do so well and screamed the whole time but we did get a cleaning in. Andrew did great the whole time and even did good when they were taking the x-rays. Adriana had her appointment after school and was such a big girl going back all by herself. So the results were a tie and they both go two quarters (which is like $20 to us......hehe!) All three of the kids are great and no cavities again. So we are good for another six months!

Adriana as goalie
Todays game Adriana played goalie. I wasn't sure how she would do, but she did awesome! Her team won 5-0 and she stopped many goals! I think she is going to be a natural athlete, of course her height always helps her out ;-) Here is a few pictures of the goalie!

And of course I can't forget about my favorite fans! So here is a picture of the boys lounging out watching their sister play.

Adriana's 1st soccer game!
Today was Adriana's 1st soccer game. She was playing in the All Saints tournament. Althought the lost, she played really well. I was afraid that she wouldn't play so tough because she said she was afraid of hurting someone and making them bleed. I explained to her that was why she wore shin guards. I told her not to worry about hurting anyone and just have fun. Well she did and my was she agressive. I was so proud of her! Especially since she hadn't played soccer since she was 3 years old and has only had 2 practices so far. Here are a few pictures. I took a ton of them so I narrowed them down to a favorite few.

Yet, another lost tooth!
Adriana has lost her 4th bottom tooth. At the rate she is going, she will have no baby teeth left when she gets into 1st grade and the toothfairy will be broke ;)
Illinois State Fair!
On Saturday we decided to take the kids to the Illinois State Fair over in Springfield, IL. The kids had such a great time! I took over 100 pictures of all the fun things we did all day, but I won't bore you with all of them and only put in a few.
We started off at the fair by all the animals. We first stopped off at a petting zoo. Adriana and Andrew went right up to the animals and loved petting on them. It took Joey a little while but he finally got up the courage to go up and pet the goats.
Next Adriana and Andrew rode on the pony ride. Andrew thought this was great!
Adriana asked if the horses would go any faster, I guess after years of horseback riding these can go pretty slow ;)
Walking around some more we came upon some construction equipment that they let the kids climb in and play with. Boy was Andrew in HEAVEN!
Look at that concentration on his face as he is trying to make it work.
Then we found an area where they taught bike safety. They had a little obstacle course the kids got to go through with a stop light, railroad crossing, and various other signs.
This was another of Andrew's favorites and kept asking to ride the bikes again.
Joey even got to join in on his little bike!
There was another little kids area where they had all sorts of things for kids to play. Here they decided to try milking a cow.
Joey's favorite was playing in the box with corn.
The older two decided to pretend to be Abraham Lincoln.

And Adriana:
The kids played on this little playset for probably a good 30 minutes. They loved making a train on the slide and going down.
There was a little spot where they had baby chicks and even let the kids hold them, including Andrew (which made me so nervous but he did awesome!)
At the end of the night we finally made it over to the ride and game area. So the kids enjoyed playing some games and winning more stuffed animals that we don't need.
And riding lots and lots of rides.
It really was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect. Not too hot and a nice breeze coming through. I also have to mention where my kids choose to eat lunch. As with most fairs, it was full of greasy, fattening fair food. I asked the kids when we got to the eating area which place they would want to eat at. After reading off all the food they could eat, they choose to eat at Subway and have a ham sandwich! What kind of kids pass up all that fattening food to eat a nutritious lunch? So they did get a snack later....Andrew choose dippin dots and Adriana got a funnel cake. I had to put some fat into their diet somehow....hehehe!

Adriana's 1st day of school!
On Wed. Aug. 12, 2009 Adriana had her first day of kindergarten. I have been dreading this day for a long time. This is my baby girl who I have spent everyday with since the day she was born and now it was time to let her grow up and go off to big girl school. Yes, she went to preschool but this is much different. With preschool I knew I could keep her home whenever I wanted to or go in late a few hours if we wanted extra snuggle time in the morning. Now she has to go to school everyday and all day long. She is now with her teachers more than she is with me.
So here are a few pictures of her on her first day of school.

Here she is holding a sign the school made for her on the day before she started school and put it in our front yard.
Here she is in her classroom.
Here she is as I was telling her goodbye!
She was so excited to start school and went right in to the classroom without any problems. I actually did better than I thought I would and didn't cry, but I did tear up a little. She only had a half day and it was the longest half day of my life! I finally got to go pick her up and she couldn't wait to tell me all about how much fun she had. On Thursday she had her first full day and was so excited to be able to eat her lunch at school. I walked her in one more day to make sure she was alright. She once again was very excited when I picked her up from school and told me all about her fun day. Friday was my sad day. This was the first day I dropped her off to go in by herself. The little kids helped her out of the car and she walked over to the sidewalk where she waited for them to walk her in, only now the kids don't get walked in like they did in preschool. So I pulled over to the side to make sure she made it in. She stood there for several minutes before she finally figured out to follow the other kids inside. It broke my heart to not be able to run up there and help her. So I sat in my car helpless as I watched her and knew how scared she was not knowing what to do. When I picked her up she told me all about how she didn't know what to do and she almost cried. But then she said she put on her brave face and followed the other kids inside. Let me tell you, it is so hard to let your babies grow up!!!
So Monday morning I made sure she knew what to do when I dropped her off and went over each step about 10 times. And when I went to drop her off she did great and went straight inside. Much easier morning! And today is the first day she is buying her lunch in the school cafeteria so I can't wait to hear all about how that goes! I know I will look back on this and laugh at how excited I am to hear all about her buying her lunch for the first time!

Adriana's 1st soccer practice
Last night Adriana had her first soccer practice for St. Charles Borromeo's kindergarten team. She was so excited to be able to play. Considering she hasn't played since she was 3 years old, she did really good! She was a lot more aggressive out there than I thought she would have been. I was very proud of her!
Here are a few pictures of her playing.

Here she is making some new friends.
Waiting in line for her turn.
And just a few more snapshots of her playing.

Here first game is at the end of the month when she plays in another schools tournament. I think she will do really well and loves it!

Day at Six Flags!
I'm realizing that I am getting so far behind on this blog so I am going to try to catch up today. Last week my sister and I took the kids to Six Flags for the day. We got a great deal on tickets from the kids Credit Union which also included a buffet lunch and games where everyone won a prize. I didn't get a lot of pictures because most of the day was spent at the water park and my camera was locked away. Also, these pictures aren't the greatest because I brought my little cheap camera in fear of my good camera getting stolen or broken.
Somehow blogger won't let me change the order of these pictures so your going to get what there is.
Here is Joey taking a nap after a big day at the water park.
Here is Joey playing the game and winning a prize.
Adriana and her cousin Jacob on the swings.
Adriana and Jacob on the scrambler.
Andrew and Joey posing in the car. I think Andrew is telling me to watch out before he runs over me.......heaven help us all when he turns 16!
Joey pointing to the next ride he was to get on, which was the roller coast Evil Knievel. Sorry Joey, I think you are going to have to wait a few years for this one!
My niece Kaitlyn and three of her friends were also there but of course they took off to go ride all the big rides. So that is all the pictures I have from the day......very sad I know. Guess we will have to go again soon!

Frog hopping contest
This past Saturday was the St. Charles County Fair annual frog hopping contest. Once again the kids wanted to do this. So Friday night after I got off work I went out to get some frogs. It wasn't as entertaining as last years, if you don't remember it here is the post http://theweber5.blogspot.com/2008/07/what-day.html. This year it wasn't raining and I actually had a couple of other officer's help me out.
So we got down to the fair and Andrew had picked the biggest frog to use for his race.
So here is all the frogs lined up ready to hop away.
And off goes Andrew's frog.
Andrew's frog won first place......woohoo!!! Here is Andrew and his first place ribbon and trophy!
Next was Adriana's frogs turn. She decided to use Andrew's frog again since it was bigger and it had just won Andrew first place. Well the frog got stage fright this time and just sat there so unfortunately it didn't win her anything. And she is such a good sport. I asked her if she was upset about not winning and she said "of course not mommy, I can't win everything. Plus some other little boy or girl needed a chance to win". Wow what a great sport! I was so proud of her! So we let the frogs go back at the pond (and no frogs were hurt during this hopping contest ;) So until next year.......
