My good deals this week

I have been getting some really good deals lately so I'm going to try to keep track of them and see if I can get even better. With the economy as bad as it is and the constant fear of Chris loosing his job, we have been trying to save as much as we can.

For groceries, I have my budget set at $50 a week. I usually do my Shop n Save shopping on Wednesday night after I get off work. I still get my $10 off Thursday coupon plus I don't have to take the three kids with me, which is a huge help. This past Thursday I had an extra bonus $10 off coupon that I earned the week before. I always do my weekly menu planning off of what is on sale along with the coupons I have. This week I did awesome! I saved $60.03 which was 78%! I only spent $16.97. Here is my receipt:Then I got my bread, butter, fruit, and a few other things at Aldi's and spent right under $15.00. My last trip was to Costco for milk, eggs, and a few more things. I spent just under $20.00. So I was able to spend under my $50 limit and I had over a grocery cart of food between the three places!!! Not bad! Oh yeah, I also went to Target with my mom and bought two packages of hot dogs for $.39 after coupons!

My other good deal was on an IPod. As most of you know I have been training for a half marathon but have no music other than Chris' to listen to while I'm running. I've been wanting an IPod so I can use my sister's downloads to load it up for free but I didn't want to spent the money on one. Well I found some at the stores for around $50 but that was still more than I was wanting to spend so I started looking on EBay and Craigslist but didn't want to get a used one. I've been bidding on some for a couple weeks now but they always go more than I would want to spend. I finally won one last night for $31! Its a 2nd generation 1gb (which has plenty of room for the songs I have to download on it). I paid with Paypal which I already had almost $10 on the account from this website: http://www.youdata.com/. After the money I earned off that website, the IPod only cost me out of pocket $21.65 and it was brand new in the box!

Also, I've been wanting to get the kids some swim shirts to help keep the sun off of them since we've been swimming so much. I didn't want to pay too much money so I went to Old Navy for their swim sale. I scored several swim shirts for all three kids plus a couple of swim shorts for Chris for $5 each plus I had a 15% off coupon. I spent about $25.00 for 4 swimshirts and 2 swimsuits. I went back again with my mom who bought all the grandkids some swimsuits plus my dad some. She spent over $50 so she got a coupon for $20 off $20 on a future purchase that she gave me to use, so I'm sure that will be on a future post of good deals I score ;)

So that is it for this week! I will try to do this on a regular basis, more so to keep track for myself than for my two followers of this blog ;)

Great job Kristina! I went to three Old Navy stores this weekend to track down some suits for Jason, but no such luck in his size. I did find some pretty good deals on maternity stuff, though, and Jason got $5 shorts and shirts. I got the $20 coupon too and have vowed to track a store down in Seattle since we will be on vacation while the coupon is good!

Thanks girls! Jodi, I went to Old Navy first thing Friday morning when they opened and there wasn't much in mens swimwear at all. I only found a couple of larges for Chris. My dad wears bigger sizes so there was a lot more to choose from. It sounds like you still got good deals!
Sarah, I would love to get together with you sometime and help you out. Its really easy and not very time consuming at all. There is so many websites out there that do all the work for you. I don't even cut coupons, I just mark the date on the front of the coupon pack. Let me know when you would like to get together.
