Camping at Cuivre River State Park!

This past weekend we took our first camping trip of the year to Cuivre River State Park. Our camper was parked at our farm in Hawk Point so this campground was really close for us. I was a little worried about going at first because they were calling for some strong storms but it ended up being a great weekend. The rain held off for the evening hours so the daytime was perfect. We did a lot of fun things and I think the kids had a great time getting away.
First we had to pick out sleeping arrangements........what? Everyone is sleeping in the top bunk?!

Then we headed down to the beach while we waited for Uncle Dan to bring cousin Jacob who was going to stay the weekend with us. While walking to the beach we came across a green snake. So we took a picture while it crossed the road to head back to the woods........thats a good thing since I'm not overly fond of snakes!

Joey bringing the bucket down to play with.

Adriana and Andrew playing in the water.

Little toesies in the sand.

This is so much fun mom!!!!

When Uncle Dan arrived he decided to take the boys fishing since Chris was still working and I don't do well with baiting hooks and taking fish off.......yuck!
The boys loved this!

Andrew caught the first fish which was a 13" catfish! Wow!

This picture is funny because I kept telling Andrew to look at me for the picture so he turned his head towards me but wouldn't take his eyes off his prize catch!

We released the fish back into the water and headed back to the campground so we could do some roller skating.
Andrew trying his best to not fall.

Adriana and Jacob skating circles around us.

Andrew getting a little help from big cousin Jacob!

Some more wildlife we came across. There was a LOT of deer in the park and the kids loved watching them.

Of course you can't have a campout without making some yummy smores!

YUMMY!!!!!!

Next to our camping spot was a little hiking trail we decided to try out. I also gave the kids each a paper bag to collect some neat things they find along the way. It was great when we got back to the campground and everyone shared their treasures with each other.

Joey spotted something off the bridge but the others don't seem as interested.

Must have found some great treasures!

Heading back to the campground.

The boys taking a break from all the hiking!

One last stop at the beach!

We had a great time and I look forward to many more camping weekends over the summer!
